Elly turns two

This weekend, I went on a weekend get away all by myself. My best friend's daughter, Elly, was celebrating her second birthday. So I packed up the car and headed to Virginia, leaving Bobby and Sam for a boy's weekend. They had a great time and I enjoyed my time away. Missed the guys, but had plenty to keep me busy, so it was fun. I went to Christiansburg on Friday afternoon, helped make a cake...or should I say watched and did some taste testing, and then headed to Clifton Forge in the wee hours of the night. The party was Saturday and we had a great time. I always enjoy my time with the Houff's, and they are always so welcoming to me. I feel like part of the family. Sadly, I have a black eye right now, from a tickling incident gone bad...can we say parental abuse? So I'm not in any of the pictures...but here are a few of the Houffs and of course the birthday girl!

Snow, Snow...yes it's March!

It is hard to believe that on the 2nd of March...we have snow on the ground! But it is true. It rained almost all day yesterday and then started snowing at some point during the night. This morning when I went in to get Bobby up, he saw the snow and started saying..."snow play, snow play, snow play." I was able to get him to eat some breakfast, and because he was so distracted I was even able to throw some spinach in with his scrambled eggs...sneaky mommy! But as soon as he took the last bite, we were off to get dressed.

I'm not sure that I could live somewhere that it snows all the time...it is a lot of work getting both of us bundled up and ready to go. But Bobby had a great time and it is worth it to see the big smile on his face. This was a much wetter snow, so we didn't last too long...but maybe we'll venture out again when dada gets home.

So Cute...

Yesterday Bobby and I enjoyed the beautiful weather and spent some time in the backyard. And it turned into a mini photo session for me and peek a boo around the trees for Bobby. I love trying to get his cute little smile and face in a more candid setting.

And he's 2...

I can't believe it but Bobby is two. We had a party on Sunday for him. I tried to go smaller this year with just family and a couple of family friends...and it was still a bit chaotic. But most importantly, Bobby had a great time. He is really into Scooby Doo right now, so that was the theme and he was so happy.

He doesn't say Happy Birthday, but instead just says Happy Day. So all day he was saying "Happy Day, Happy Day to Bobby"...so cute! And wanted to have Happy Day cake and the Shaggy Doo party stuff!

I have loved watching him grow this year. He is talking so much more every day and really starting to show signs of the "terrible twos." So I'm sure that this year will be just as interesting.

here we go again...

On Tuesday, the day of the snow, Bobby and I braved the roads and headed to Wilmington. And truly the roads were not that bad. I had a dentist appointment Wednesday that I didn't want to miss. I have been having some pain and wanted to get it checked out. Well, I found out that I have to have all 4 wisdom teeth taken out, so we will be going back and forth to Wilmington for the next couple of weeks.

Anyway, while we were there, Bobby had a great time as usual. He spent some quality time on his favorite toys...big Papa's tractors. And we went to the mall to get our free trees with my dad and Bobby got to ride the carousel! A happy boy to have the whole thing to himself! And my mom and I even got to spend some time together shopping...a rarity for me:)

Snow Day!

Last week we had our first (and only that I can remember) snow day! It started snowing during the night and continued for most of the day. When Bobby woke up and saw the snow he wasn't quite sure what to make of it. But once we got outside he was SO excited. Although getting an almost two year old and myself suited up was no easy task. I'm not sure that I could live up north. But as I said, Bobby had a fabulous time in the snow and was not happy with me when I made him come inside.

But once Sam got home, we went back out with all the neighborhood kids and had some more fun. Bobby and I even tried sledding, making snowballs and all the other good stuff you do in the snow. I don't think that Bobby even noticed the cold or wet...as he was shivering and telling me that he was NOT cold and NOT ready to go inside:) It was a great experience for Bobby and hopefully he'll see snow again before he is 10!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We had a very busy Christmas this year. We were in Wilmington and spent our time with all of our family and friends. Unfortunately I didn't take a ton of pictures this year, but we still had a great time. We were able to visit with all of the Foys, Longs and Godwins...and Sam and I even got a date night squeezed in:) That is a rarity, so it was great to be able to have some time to ourselves...thanks Mummu and Papa.

Bobby got a stomach bug at the beginning of the week, and I was afraid that he wouldn't be feeling very well for Christmas, but he perservered and was a great little trooper. Staying up late and sleeping in late...nice for me:)

And yesterday we went and spent New Year's Day with the Longs of Kernersville. The boys all had a great time together, as they always do, and it was great to see everyone.

We hope that everyone had a great holiday season...love to all!
